About London Pub Poker
Way back in 2006, I was looking to play in a friendly pub poker game in London, no one seemed to be offering tournaments where a beginner could come along and play and improve their game, so I decided to place an advert just as a test really asking if any venues wanted a poker night ? One replied and the rest is history as they say.
We have never ever made a profit (we are very good at making a loss) and the games are run by poker players for poker players and those that wish to learn to play in a non threatening environment (That is as close to being PC as I am ever likely to get)
All levels of player are welcome from complete beginner to advanced, we have recently formed a great alliance with London Poker Meetup and I have to say the standard of play is getting higher all the time, whilst we remain a place for learners to come and improve their game.
The emphasis may be on having fun but that does not mean our players do not want to win and your first London Pub Poker win is long cherished - London Pub Poker brings players together for fun not profit, the games never really break even as something has to always be paid for be it new cards, new tables, advertising, the website hosting or whatever.
We have no desire to be a massive impersonal large pub poker co but we do run succesful large scale events - The London Pub Poker Open in April 2008 attracted 165 players, from all over London and The Home Counties, player's put aside their usual loyalties and competed in a great event - that is the spirit of London Pub Poker and one we will always continue.
We also do Corporate games and have our own group on Facebook London Pub Poker with 400 random pics of poker players and in true London Pub Poker fashion they are uploaded by Anne our photographer in random fashion
Currently our nights are Run by Gavin on a Monday @ Clerkenwell House, Dave Creasor on a Tuesday @ Loose Cannon, Aaron on a Weds and Dave Potts or one of us on a Thursday at My Hotels - I myself just send the emails and post stuff up on the web.
All of our games are listed on The London Poker Meet Up Calendar SEE HERE and on the London Pub Poker Meet Up Group London Poker All New Super League SEE HERE as well as on our site, our leagues are just a bit of fun and often updated late, our players welcoming and new players soon become regulars.
You are encouraged to join our mailing list which you can do by clicking here so that we can keep you informed of our events and any last minute changes - See you on the rail as I am usually first out :)
